Ann Dyer finds time to bake a loaf of bread

Noone loves bread as much as I. Because of this love, I have started the journey of making the best loaf of bread around. My first attempt was OK... a little heavy. Just had a similar bread from Stew Leonards that I'm trying to match. If anyone has any good tips on baking bread and you would like to share them with me, it would be much appretiated!

Mildale Firehouse celebrates 100th anniversary

Mildale Firehouse celebrated it's 100th anniversary on Saturday. Lifestar was there, a police dog was there, they lit a car on fire, they got up in the bucket and sprayed the hose, they showed how they put out a gas grill on fire, they showed how to use a fire extinguisher and gave tours of their teaching trailor. It was a day not to be missed! I know I had a blast!

The Celentano family

Meet Luke Celentano, a beautiful 2 1/2 year old having fun at the beach with his mom and dad!

Luke has Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis or HLH. He was a pleasure to meet and alot of fun to photograph. I think I tuckered him out for sure! Please keep the Celentano family in your thoughts and prayers!

Fire Saturday

Southington had a fire on Savage St . Thank goodness noone was hurt. It happened around 1:30am early Saturday morning Here are the pics. I left around 3:30am because it was pouring. The fireman did an awesome job as usual!

September 2009 Print Competition was awesome!

The third print compettion of 2008 to determine Photographer of the Year was last night at Laurel View Country Club(a great place to have a wedding, by the way!). The image of the little girl won 1st place in the Portrait category, the image of the little girl won 1st place in the Portrait category and the brother and sister on the beach won Best in Show in the Creative category! Dr Skarvinko's pediatrics office display my portraits

Check out Dr Skarvinko's office and you'll find my portraits all over the walls!! He is the best pediatrician ever! My children went to him when they were young- now their over 21 so they had to find a grown up doctor-haha. So go in and visit his office and if you're from town, he's my pick to doctor your children!

Brother & Sister at Rocky Neck State Park

I had the best time following these two children around at the beach last week! What fun they had frolicking in the water and playing in the sand. It was a beautiful evening and a great time! A very natural way to have your children or family photographed-very much different that staring at the camera!

Southington fireman volunteer at new social services building

A few good men from the Southington Fire Dept volunteer their time painting the historic Old Firehouse in Mildale. It will be Janet Mellon's new social services building to help out the citizen's of Southington. Peter Veronneau(pictured in the doorway of the building) donated his time and expertise as the architect! Many other people and companies in town have also donated landscaping, shelving and other various things for this project. Hats off to all involved!!

Models needed

My next print competition is coming up in September, it is the New England regional competition. All prints that merit here automatically get accepted into International print competition. I am looking for boys size 3-4t to wear a new outfit that I just love. I am also looking for ages 1-3 for a portrait with a miniature piano that I think would be awesome for a competition print. Beach portraits with small family groups are always good as well. If you fit any of this criteria and are interested, please contact me through my website or call soon!

International print competition results are in!

On July 29th, I got the results of the International print competition. I received 2 merits for my efforts which was enough to earn me my Masters of Photography degree!!!! Yeah!!! It's taken me 4 long years to achieve. I've had to accumulate 13 print merits and 12 educational merits to get it. I will be awarded my degree in Phoenix, Arizona next January. It'll be an awesome time!!

I have a lot of photography friends all over the US that I will see and hang out with. My husband, Jeff and my son, Jeff who are both photographers will be there with me. Look for it in the newspaper.

Ymca Learning Center Wall Display is up!

The Southington YMCA Learning Center wall display is now up and looks awesome. I had alot of fun photographing the children playing together! The staff there is fantastic- my hat is off to them! I wish they had it when my children were small.

If you ask your children, I'm sure they'll all remember me. I was trying to be a fly on the wall but that was impossible. Many of them were very intrigued!

Beach Portraits

Now's the time to get to the gym, firm up those abs and grab your kids and get to the beach! I take my grandchildren now(I'm so old!) What I wouldn't give to have casual portraits with my children walking on the beach when they were young! If you're beachy people, call to schedule your beach session today-they're filling up fast!

2007 Photographer of the Year

In February 2008 I received an award at our state convention for both 2007 CT Digital Photographer of the Year and Certified Photographer of the Year. These awards were a culmination of entering print competitions all year long. It makes me feel really good to be able to call my clients and tell them I won with their images and give them the ribbon from their winning pose!

Teaching Painter class at New England Institute of Professional Photography

In April of 2009, I will have the honor to teach professional photographers the Corel Painter program. I use this program to paint the portraits that I make for you, my clients. It'll be a week long school at the cape. I go every year and can't wait til next year.
