Ann Dyer wins Photographer of the Year at International Print competition!!!

International print competition results: Ann Dyer wins prestigious 4 for 4 which names her Photographer of the Year!! She has one Loan print which will be published in a coffee table book with all other loan images(about 400 winners out of 5000 images submitted), one General Book merit image and two general merit images! She will be awarded a pin for her efforts at her national convention in January in San Antonio, Texas in January, 2011. She so enjoys turning her clients portraits into works of art for them to enjoy for generations!

Schedule a portrait for your child and be automatically enrolled in my portrait contest. Here's how it works!

*Children 12 and under are eligible.

*One image per child may be submitted per session per month.

*One child per session.

*Entry fee of $150. includes up to 30 minute in studio session and 5x7 portrait...extra portraits and larger sizes are available for purchase.

*For Saturday appointments...add $50.

*Location portraits such as beach, park, lake or your home require longer sessions...inquire for pricing details.

*Telephone clothing consultation is strongly recommended to ensure a strong chance of success!

*Photo Expressions has some clothing available for sessions. Inquire on sizing and style.

*Babies are clothing optional!

*Ann chooses which image is submitted.

I took home multiple award's at my state's annual print competition! I won 4 blue ribbons and 2 red ribbons and took home a Kodak Gallery award, best portrait of a child and a judges award! It was a fun weekend! I love entering!! I love photographing little ballerinas!

Every parent should read this...This is exactly what I remember as a child growing up! My parnets had a family portrait hanging in their bedroom. I went in there often just to look at it. It made me smile everyday! It really did make me feel good about my place in the family. I was the second child. There were many photos of my older sister and very few of me but I was thankful for that family portrait with me in it! Please parents: do not stop having professional portraits taken after your first born. Every child of yours needs to feel equally as special to you!!

Mildale Firehouse celebrates 100th anniversary

Mildale Firehouse celebrated it's 100th anniversary on Saturday. Lifestar was there, a police dog was there, they lit a car on fire, they got up in the bucket and sprayed the hose, they showed how they put out a gas grill on fire, they showed how to use a fire extinguisher and gave tours of their teaching trailor. It was a day not to be missed! I know I had a blast!

Southington had a fire on Savage St . Thank goodness noone was hurt. It happened around 1:30am early Saturday morning Here are the pics. I left around 3:30am because it was pouring. The fireman did an awesome job as usual!

The third print compettion of 2008 to determine Photographer of the Year was last night at Laurel View Country Club(a great place to have a wedding, by the way!). The image of the little girl won 1st place in the Portrait category, the image of the little girl won 1st place in the Portrait category and the brother and sister on the beach won Best in Show in the Creative category! I had the best time following these two children around at the beach last week! What fun they had frolicking in the water and playing in the sand. It was a beautiful evening and a great time! Southington fireman volunteer at new social services building

A few good men from the Southington Fire Dept volunteer their time painting the historic Old Firehouse in Mildale. It will be Janet Mellon's new social services building to help out the citizen's of Southington. Peter Veronneau(pictured in the doorway of the building) donated his time and expertise as the architect! Many other people and companies in town have also donated landscaping, shelving and other various things for this project. Hats off to all involved!!

My next print competition is coming up in September, it is the New England regional competition. All prints that merit here automatically get accepted into International print competition. I am looking for boys size 3-4t to wear a new outfit that I just love. I am also looking for ages 1-3 for a portrait with a miniature piano that I think would be awesome for a competition print. On July 29th, I got the results of the International print competition. I received 2 merits for my efforts which was enough to earn me my Masters of Photography degree!!!! Yeah!!! It's taken me 4 long years to achieve. I've had to accumulate 13 print merits and 12 educational merits to get it. I will be awarded my degree in Phoenix, Arizona next January. It'll be an awesome time!!

I have a lot of photography friends all over the US that I will see and hang out with. My husband, Jeff and my son, Jeff who are both photographers will be there with me. Look for it in the newspaper.

Ymca Learning Center Wall Display is up!

The Southington YMCA Learning Center wall display is now up and looks awesome. I had alot of fun photographing the children playing together! The staff there is fantastic- my hat is off to them! I wish they had it when my children were small.

If you ask your children, I'm sure they'll all remember me. I was trying to be a fly on the wall but that was impossible. Many of them were very intrigued!

Beach Portraits

2007 Photographer of the Year

In February 2008 I received an award at our state convention for both 2007 CT Digital Photographer of the Year and Certified Photographer of the Year. These awards were a culmination of entering print competitions all year long. It makes me feel really good to be able to call my clients and tell them I won with their images and give them the ribbon from their winning pose!

In April of 2009, I will have the honor to teach professional photographers the Corel Painter program. I use this program to paint the portraits that I make for you, my clients. It'll be a week long school at the cape. I go every year and can't wait til next year.
